When 13-year-old Ashton heard that his twin brother Michael only had
hours to live because of heart failure, he tried to jump from a hotel
balcony. The then-teenager thought his healthy heart could be
transplanted to his sick sibling. His father talked him out of it and,
luckily, that same day a donor was found. The surgery was successful and
Ashton’s brother is still doing fine to this day. The University of
Iowa Hospital has received numerous donations from Kutcher for saving
his brother’s life.
